With the warmer weather and good health we've been enjoying this week, we lightened up on the school work and took some time to play outside and work on giving our home some TLC.
We'll have lived here in our new house two years already (!) come July. Yet our walls and some rooms were in desperate need of some attention. Our school room also need a good organizing. We set out this week to accomplish it all! Being impossibly cheap/frugal as always, my only retail resources were The Dollar Store and the 'As Is' section at Ikea.
Here are the results of our labors:
'As Is' panel of dishwasher from Ikea: $5
Magnets, wooden letters, canvas artwork, metal tins: $1/ea.
Biggest improvement: Emmanuelle's room
Sofa bed, double bed, storage from usedstuff site: 30% of original $
Canvas for artwork: $1/ea.
Darling traditional Indian dress: free
Miscellaneous decor found around the house: free
Decorative scroll: castoff from my bed from university days
Only a few more reject cabinet doors to put to good use! Ah, the joys of turning junk into treasures and turning my hubby from dubious doubter to enthusiastic believer!
And now, a weekend to relax! Hope you all have a great one!! :O)
